Jojoba Oil is a unique oil, like no other. After all it is not actually an oil, it is made from cold pressing the seeds of the drought hardy jojoba plant which produces wax esters. These luscious, wax esters are very similar to our own wax esters (sebum) and naturally assimilate into our skin very easily. Being that Jojoba oil is in fact a wax ester, it has a very long shelf life and can not go rancid unlike other plant oils. A reduction or loss of natural wax esters within the skin can result from pollution, overzealous cleansing routines, poor dietary choices or harsh facial treatments. When the skin barrier function has been compromised it opens the skin up to bacteria and viruses, causing blemish prone, dry, brittle skin. By applying Jojoba liberally to the skin it creates a protective barrier, locking in moisture and clearing clogged pores.
